Objective:
To provide awareness of law enforcement and what the court system does and what punishment/incarceration phase is.
Summary:
This day allows participants to experience first hand the difference between the jail and prison. A panel of correctional officers and prison inmates will answer questions and share how those in community leadership roles can do to prevent/reduce crime and how community leaders can aid in the transition of former inmates into the community. They will also see how the legal system intertwines and works together including Second Chance Union Grove, the DA’s office, Victim’s Witness and Circuit Court. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience a ride along with a sheriff’s deputy or attend a session of Union Grove’s Municipal Court (or do both!).
